Vampire Survivors is coming to Switch 2 with new DLC

Poncle has confirmed the Vampire Survivors Switch 2 version is in development, along with a new paid expansion arriving this summer, a free update, and a rename that places the game at the head of the studio’s new label for survivors-like titles.

The game launched in Early Access on PC in late 2021 before arriving on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch over the following years.

Vampire Survivors Switch 2 version confirmed

The Vampire Survivors Switch 2 port will include “better performance” and mouse support. Poncle gave no release date for the Vampire Survivors Switch 2 version and shared no further technical details.

The studio is also developing Vampire Crawlers, a separate survivors-like project. Poncle has been releasing regular updates to Vampire Survivors since launch and recently announced a separate “Wet Update” for the base game.

Legacy of the Bloodmoon expansion coming this summer

Poncle describes the next paid DLC, Legacy of the Bloodmoon, as the “evil twin” of Legacy of the Moonspell, the game’s first expansion. It launches this summer across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.

Legacy of the Moonspell launched in early 2023 and introduced a Japan-themed stage and new characters to the base game. Legacy of the Bloodmoon builds on that same setting with 10 new characters, more than 16 weapons and evolutions, a new XL stage, and 8 new music tracks.

Poncle will also add content to Legacy of the Moonspell and permanently cut its price as part of the same release period. Both expansions should offer a comparable level of depth after the update, the studio said.

Vampire Survivors renamed, free 1.15 update included

Vampire Survivors is being renamed to Vampire Survivors – First Survivaton. The new subtitle ties into Poncle’s “Survivaton” label, which the studio describes as its umbrella for survivors-like games. The name is short for “survive a ton.”

Poncle develops each Survivaton title internally, sometimes with content partners. The goal is for each to introduce gameplay changes or genre twists substantial enough to stand as a separate game. Vampire Crawlers is part of the same label and is in active development, though no release date has been announced. Vampire Survivors takes the “First Survivaton” subtitle as the original game in the series.

The free 1.15 update launches with the rename and adds a new stage, new characters, new weapons, and new Darkanas.

Poncle Japan subsidiary established

Poncle has also set up Poncle Japan, a dedicated Japanese subsidiary. Sawaki Takeyasu will lead the team, which will connect Poncle’s global operations with Japanese players, creators, and industry partners. Poncle described its purpose as finding new growth and collaboration opportunities in Japan and connecting the studio’s games with local audiences.
