Marvel has confirmed August 18, 2026 as the release date for the Secret Wars expansion for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game. First announced in 2025 and detailed further in January 2026, the expansion draws from the 2015 Secret Wars comic event and brings its central setting and storyline to the tabletop.
The Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game launched to strong critical reception and has expanded its content library steadily since. The base game covers stories across different power levels, from street-level heroes to Avengers-scale confrontations, with rules built around Marvel’s specific roster. The expansion extends both the setting and the mechanical ceiling, adding support for cosmic-scale storytelling the base game only partially addressed.
The release timing fits Marvel’s current film schedule. Both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are in production, and the Secret Wars storyline has been getting wider coverage across Marvel’s product lineup this year, alongside releases like a Marvel crossover with Magic: The Gathering. The TTRPG expansion gives players a way to engage with that storyline through gameplay rather than waiting for the films. What the Marvel Multiverse RPG Secret Wars expansion adds
The expansion’s central addition is Battleworlds, the composite planet assembled from the remains of destroyed realities in the Secret Wars comic arc. As a tabletop location, Battleworlds works as an open sandbox: multiple domains, each controlled by different factions, each with their own tyrannical rulers, internal conflicts, and threats for players to face. Game masters can run self-contained adventures within a single domain or build longer campaigns that move between several. The structure works for both one-shot sessions and extended campaigns.
Cosmic encounters now have dedicated mechanical support in the Marvel Multiverse RPG. New rules and abilities cover fights at the scale of threats like Galactus, pushing well past the Avengers-tier ceiling of the base game. The expansion adds new Powers, Battle Suits, Equipment, and Team Maneuvers, along with revised Character Sheets. New Mechanics update the broader rule set to support the range of play the new content introduces.
Free RPG Day preview and upcoming content

Marvel has a separate Spider-Man one-shot in development for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game. Marvel has not set a release date for it yet, but it will add its own characters and mechanics to the system when it arrives.
