GTA 6 release date looks safe after Take-Two earnings call

Take-Two Interactive says it has a “high degree of confidence” in the Grand Theft Auto 6 release date. Chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick made the comment during Take-Two’s latest earnings call, addressing fears of another delay. The remarks are among the clearest signs yet that the GTA 6 release date will hold at November 19, 2026.

Rockstar Games‘ next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series has already slipped past earlier target windows since it was announced. Fans have questioned the GTA 6 release date ever since Rockstar confirmed it. A former Grand Theft Auto 5 developer recently said he wouldn’t be shocked to see Rockstar delay the game again. Take-Two, however, shows no sign of concern.

Why Take-Two’s GTA 6 release date confidence matters

During the fiscal call, Zelnick reiterated the company’s outlook for fiscal 2027: net bookings of $8 billion to $8.2 billion. He said the projection reflects confidence in the November 19 launch. “[The guidance] reflects both ongoing positive trends in our business and our high degree of confidence around the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto 6.”

Zelnick returned to the point later in the call. “Looking ahead, fiscal 2027 is on track to be a milestone year for our company, led by the release of Grand Theft Auto 6,” he told investors. Take-Two’s leadership mentioned the November date more than once during the same call. That pattern stands out compared to past Rockstar releases, when the publisher was typically far more guarded about timing.

Public companies rarely attach specific revenue guidance to an unreleased game’s exact ship date unless they expect to hit it. Missing a bookings target tied that closely to a named release date would draw immediate scrutiny from analysts and investors. Take-Two’s comments carry more weight than a routine marketing statement as a result.

Marketing signals point to an on-time launch

Preorders for Grand Theft Auto 6 are already open. An extended first look at the game is set to premiere on Netflix later this month. Starting a major marketing push three months ahead of release would be unusual for Rockstar or Take-Two if either expected another delay.

None of this rules out a further shift. Game development schedules can slip for reasons that have nothing to do with a publisher’s stated confidence, and Rockstar has missed self-imposed windows before. Still, Take-Two now has open preorders, a scheduled Netflix segment, and financial guidance built around November 19. Together, those leave the company little room to walk the release date back without consequence.

Zelnick acknowledged that delays remain possible in game development. Even so, he said every current sign points toward Grand Theft Auto 6 arriving on November 19, 2026. Take-Two has now tied its entire fiscal 2027 outlook, including the $8 billion to $8.2 billion bookings target, to Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date.
