Konami used its latest Press Start showcase on September 3 to unveil two original role-playing games. The stream also carried new cast details for Silent Hill Townfall and fresh updates on several other titles already in development. The Konami Press Start showcase ran for roughly 20 minutes. It moved through a Scottish-set survival horror sequel, a deck-building strategy game, and a platform that lets players build games out of Konami’s own franchises.
The stream leaned heavily on original material rather than remasters, a shift from Konami’s recent output. Two brand-new role-playing games led the announcements, both aimed at players who grew up on the publisher’s story-driven catalogue instead of its sports and mobile lines. Press Start is Konami’s own branded digital showcase, run separately from larger industry events such as Gamescom or The Game Awards. This edition ran through seven separate segments, one for each game.
Two new RPGs headline the Konami Press Start showcase
Rev. NOiR is an action RPG from producer Kadoi that follows a protagonist named Asch and a companion named Finé as they try to stop a recurring catastrophe called Lightfall. In the game’s world, people live according to lifelong duties called Astral Ordinances, assigned by a floating entity known as the Determinant. Combat mixes normal attacks, perfect-dodge counters, and support abilities called Astral Sigils and Kardieoses, the latter inherited from characters met along the way.
Kadoi said the goal was to pair dynamic action battles with the satisfaction of strategic decision-making and tactical planning. Rev. NOiR is scheduled for 2027 on Xbox, PS5, and PC, and wishlisting opened the same day as the reveal.
The second RPG, Rhapsody in Scarlet, comes from co-producer Murayama and is set in 1920s New York during the height of its jazz scene. Players control Ellie, voiced by Cherami Leigh in English and Akari Kito in Japanese. She teams up with Ilya, voiced by Hannah Grace and Saori Onishi, to investigate a mafia organization tied to a wider conspiracy that threatens the city’s balance. Combat blends melee and ranged attacks powered by magick and beasts, with area-of-effect skills that chain into longer combos. The soundtrack comes from the band SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS alongside singer-songwriter Emi Meyer, a pairing meant to reflect the game’s Prohibition-era jazz setting. Konami revealed Rhapsody in Scarlet earlier the same day on a PlayStation livestream but has not confirmed a release window.
Silent Hill Townfall adds cast reveals ahead of its release
Silent Hill Townfall is set for release on September 24, 2026, according to producer Motoi Okamoto. The standalone entry takes place on the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia and is designed to welcome newcomers as well as longtime fans of the series. Okamoto used the showcase to share video messages from three cast members first announced at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.
Jovan Adepo, known for 3 Body Problem, voices Simon. “When I first got the call about a chance to be a part of this video game, the first thing I did was call my dad,” Adepo said, adding that he was already a fan of the series. Terry O’Quinn, known for Lost, plays Richard, whose voice is reportedly the first the player hears in the game. Kezia Burrows returns after starring in Screen Burn‘s 2019 game Observation; the studio wrote the character Zoe specifically for her. “This has been a real treat to come back,” Burrows said, describing how the game’s writer would sometimes leave scenes open for her to build on rather than dictate every line.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and Project Zircon get new looks
The showcase also carried a new trailer for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Konami’s next 2D entry in the franchise, showing off new weapons and abilities for vampire hunter Rose Belmont. The clip leaned on cinematic dialogue between Rose and an unnamed antagonist rather than gameplay detail.
Project Zircon, a deck-building roguelike first announced years ago as a blockchain title before being quietly shelved, resurfaced under producer Shiro with no mention of blockchain features this time around. Players expand a nation’s territory during a Strategy Phase, then deploy character cards for combo bonuses during an Admin Phase, tracking three resource types: Commerce, Industry, and Culture. Special abilities called Zirpower can also be slotted into a deck, up to three at a time, to swing a run in the player’s favor. A full run spans five in-game years and branches into multiple endings depending on the choices made along the way. Pre-registration opened alongside the showcase.
Wai Wai World Craft and eFootball close out the showcase
Wai Wai World Craft is a user-generated content platform that executive director Tanibuchi introduced in detail for the first time. It lets players use existing Konami games as building blocks, then modify rules, enemies, and stages to create original games and share them with the community. Characters from Contra and Castlevania already appear as assets, raising the possibility of crossovers between the two franchises. The platform also includes a system that lets players financially support the creators whose games they enjoy. Konami says the incentive helps games “evolve and flourish” as players and creators work together. Konami has not announced a release date.
Konami also confirmed eFootball, the free-to-play successor to Pro Evolution Soccer, is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. A Leagues mode arrives as a free update this autumn, letting players build a club roster, compete across 25 leagues worldwide, and track individual rankings for goals and assists. The update also adds a 6-a-side mode on a smaller pitch, and the game supports GameShare, so up to three additional players can join a match from a single copy. A standalone spinoff, eFootball Kick-Off, is available now.
The two new RPGs, the Silent Hill Townfall cast reveals, and the Castlevania and eFootball updates gave the Konami Press Start showcase more range than any single Konami stream this year. The next confirmed date on the calendar is Silent Hill Townfall’s September 24, 2026 launch. Everything else, including Rev. NOiR, Rhapsody in Scarlet, Project Zircon, and Wai Wai World Craft, remains without a firm release window.
