Nintendo Direct September 2026: everything announced

Nintendo closed out its Nintendo Direct September 2026 broadcast with a 45-minute run of announcements. The stream covered new games, fresh release dates and updates for titles already on shelves. Most of the presentation leaned on Nintendo Switch 2 ports of existing hits. A handful of brand new games also got their first look, giving players a packed slate heading into next year.

Third-party publishers made up a large share of the lineup. Capcom, Square Enix, Bloober Team and Level-5 all had games on stage. Several previously announced Switch 2 ports finally got firm dates. Below is a breakdown of what Nintendo Direct September 2026 confirmed, organized by category rather than broadcast order.

What Nintendo Direct September 2026 revealed for the first time

Nintendo used part of the broadcast to introduce projects nobody had seen before. The headline reveal was Metroid Ravenous, a side-scrolling entry in the series. In it, Samus appears to feed on enemies to stay alive. It arrives January 28, alongside three amiibo figures. One of those figures looks tied to a Deluxe Edition of the physical release.

Nintendo also unveiled Kirby and the World Beyond, a new 3D Kirby adventure due in spring 2027. It closed the presentation on an original note rather than another port announcement.

Bloober Team revealed Onyx: The Dark Grip, a Switch 2 exclusive set for 2027. Players guide a mysterious entity through a ghost town, manipulating the environment. The goal is to stop a possessed traveller from descending into madness. New gameplay footage also surfaced for Stage Fright, the next project from the team behind Overcooked, also targeting 2027. Marvelous unveiled the time-travelling JRPG Eternal Anima, set for March 4, 2027.

Switch 2 ports and remasters

The bulk of the Direct centered on bringing existing games to Switch 2 hardware. Monster Hunter Wilds is confirmed for the console on December 4. Nintendo also reiterated that Final Fantasy VII Revelation is coming April 8, backed by a new trailer of Switch 2 gameplay. A Switch 2 version of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion shadow dropped during the broadcast and is available immediately.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition lands February 25, 2027. It brings better visuals, a higher frame rate and more enemies on screen. The full Age of Calamity Expansion Pass is built in. Owners of the original Switch release get a discount on the digital upgrade, and they can transfer their save data across.

CD Projekt Red‘s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered arrives on Switch 2 on September 29. The same day brings a free Star Fox update, adding split-screen multiplayer and three new Battle Mode stages. Four players can now join a Battle Mode session on a single console. Star Fox Adventures also joined the platform’s GameCube library, bringing that catalog to 11 titles.

Capcom‘s Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 remakes all launch digitally on Switch 2 on October 16. Pikmin 4 returns as Pikmin 4: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy on November 12. It adds weekend exams that task players with collecting treasure against the clock. Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Switch 2 Edition keeps its December 3 date, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is set for February 12. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight reaches Switch 2 on September 18. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves follows on October 22, with a Starter Edition bundling Mikey and Draken from Tokyo Revengers as playable fighters.

Release dates confirmed for existing announcements

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave stays on track for September 17. Level-5 finally attached a date to Professor Layton and the New World of Steam: December 10, matching the studio’s earlier promise of a 2026 launch. Level-5 also confirmed Yokai Watch 2: Haunted Domain is coming to Switch 2, though it warned the port needs more time before a firm date follows.

Persona 4 Revival is set for May 20, 2027, shown off with a new Switch 2 trailer. A short teaser reminded audiences that Persona 6 remains in development. Danganronpa 2×2 arrives January 14, 2027, on both Switch and Switch 2. It pairs an upgraded version of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair with a new story set in the same world.

SNK‘s Metal Slug Ultimate Collection brings ten games to Switch and Switch 2 in 2027, including the original location-test build of Metal Slug. Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX, a remaster of Tag Force 3, and Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, a full 3D remake of the 1995 RPG, both land February 16. Mega Man: Dual Override confirmed Proto Man as a playable character ahead of its spring 2027 release. Matching Mega Man and Proto Man amiibo launch the same day.

Free updates and ongoing content

Mario Kart World received a free update the day of the Direct. It adds ten SNES-era tracks to VS Race mode, plus two new Knockout Tours. Pokémon Pokopia‘s second Expansion Pass DLC chapter got a new trailer ahead of a release later this year. Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s next paid expansion, The Keepsake Sea, lets players turn into mermaids when it launches in November 2026.

Two smaller titles shipped the same day as the broadcast. The drawing-based hide-and-seek game Meccha Chameleon is out now, and updated footage of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort showed off a new Wuhu Island exploration mode. That game arrives October 22. Kirby Air Riders rounded out its amiibo lineup with Sword Kirby and Noir Dedede, due November 12.

A partner spotlight montage closed the show with brief looks at further Switch and Switch 2 releases. Among them: 007 First Light, It Takes Two, Stellar Blade: Complete Edition, Hell Is Us and The Crew Motorfest. None of those titles received individual segments.

Between the Resident Evil remakes, the Witcher 3 remaster and Monster Hunter Wilds, Switch 2 owners have a run of major third-party ports landing within weeks of each other this autumn. Metroid Ravenous and Kirby and the World Beyond give Nintendo’s own 2027 lineup its first concrete shape.
