Square Enix has moved Final Fantasy XIV Evercold, the patch 8.0 expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, to February 23, 2027. The expansion had been planned for a January 2027 window, so the new date pushes it back by roughly a month.
Players who pre-order Final Fantasy XIV Evercold can start playing early on February 19, 2027. Pre-orders open on November 4, 2026, and the official trailer description says pre-order bonus items unlock in-game as soon as the order goes through. The announcement gives no reason for the delay.
Alongside the new date, Square Enix released nine videos in one batch. Together they cover a new job, two new areas, a look at the dungeons, a crossover raid and the Collector’s Edition mount. The release date trailer comes in English and Japanese versions.
What the Final Fantasy XIV Evercold trailers show
The biggest reveal is Zephyr, which Square Enix calls the second new job coming to Evercold. It is a physical ranged DPS. According to the trailer description, Zephyr fights with crossbow shots while an avian familiar supports it in combat.
Two of the trailers each focus on a single zone. The first is Sessrymnir, Realmship of Earth, and the second is Skioblaonir, Realmship of Wind. A third video, titled “More Locales from the Fourth,” tours other areas players will visit in the expansion.
Meanwhile, a separate “Dungeon Crawl” trailer gives a first look at several of the new dungeons. Square Enix has not yet listed how many dungeons Evercold will include.
An Evangelion crossover raid series
The batch also includes a teaser for EVANGELION: Ghosts of Desire. The Japanese video description calls it crossover content with the Evangelion series. It is a new alliance raid series, and the anime studio Khara is supervising its production.
Alliance raids in Final Fantasy XIV are large-scale fights for groups of 24 players. However, the teaser does not say when the first part of Ghosts of Desire will go live.
Collector’s Edition contents
Square Enix will sell a Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XIV Evercold next to the standard version. The physical box contains a Reaper figure, an Ethos metal keychain, a Kottr mini plush, the “Tapestry of the Fourth” and an Evercold special art box.
The Collector’s Edition also unlocks three in-game items. These are the Valhallar Odin mount, the Entreat Crystal emote and a Bastion weapon called the Crystal Skyltborg. Valhallar Odin has its own trailer in the batch. Square Enix has not announced Collector’s Edition pricing in the material released so far.
