Pearl Abyss has outlined a series of updates coming to Crimson Desert over the next few months, responding to player feedback gathered in the three weeks since the action RPG launched. The changes address several recurring issues: enemy scarcity in the late game, limited difficulty control, underdeveloped secondary characters, and overloaded item storage. Updates are scheduled to roll out between April and June.
The most discussed complaint among players is running out of enemies to fight. Crimson Desert’s open-world structure allows players to liberate zones across the map, but once those locations are cleared, combat becomes scarce. To address this, Pearl Abyss is introducing a system called “re-blockading,” where enemies retake previously cleared locations, giving players a consistent source of fights regardless of how far into the game they have progressed. Pearl Abyss says this also creates more chances for players to put the game’s combat depth to use over the long term. Boss rematches are coming alongside this, though the studio has not confirmed whether they will carry new rewards.
Difficulty settings arrive
Crimson Desert launched without difficulty options, and that gap is now being filled. Players will be able to choose from easy, normal, and hard modes. The addition gives newcomers a more accessible entry point while giving players who have invested heavily in Kliff‘s build a harder challenge to work against, especially as enemies start retaking cleared zones. Pearl Abyss also teased additional combat-focused content in development, without providing specifics.
Damaine and Oongka get expanded abilities
The game’s three playable characters are Kliff, the main protagonist, and two companions, Damaine and Oongka. Player feedback since launch has consistently noted that Damaine and Oongka feel less capable than Kliff, who has access to distinctive combat moves including Force Palm and Axiom Force. Pearl Abyss says both characters are receiving new abilities the studio describes as equivalent to those powers. The details of what those abilities will look like in practice have not been shared.
Storage and interface improvements
Item management became a visible problem at launch, with players quickly filling a single shared storage box. A fix was added shortly after release, but a more thorough overhaul is coming. The storage system will be divided into category-specific sections for food, gear, gatherables, and collections, covering quest items, recipes, and similar materials. The separation should reduce the friction of locating specific items across a crowded inventory.
The update window also covers a set of smaller quality-of-life improvements. Font size settings will be added to the UI, controls are being further refined, and distant scenery rendering will receive a quality pass. More pets, mounts, and mount armour are also in development for the same window.
Pearl Abyss has not provided specific dates for individual changes. The full rollout is scheduled through June.
