Only Murders leads Hulu sweep at CrimeCon Clue Awards 2026

Hulu swept two of the top prizes at the CrimeCon Clue Awards 2026, with “Only Murders in the Building” winning outstanding scripted series and “Girl on the Run: Hunt for America’s Most Wanted” taking outstanding docuseries at the Las Vegas ceremony on Saturday night.

The CrimeCon Clue Awards 2026 drew nominations across eight competitive categories from outlets including Hulu, Netflix, AMC, Oxygen True Crime, and CBS News. CrimeCon presents the awards each year to recognise true crime content in television, film, podcasts, and publishing. The three-day event took place at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, with former Dateline correspondent Chris Hansen, now host of “Takedown With Chris Hansen,” hosting the ceremony.

Scripted and docuseries winners

“Only Murders in the Building” beat four nominees in the scripted category: AMC’s “Dark Winds,” and three other Hulu titles, “Paradise,” “Reasonable Doubt,” and ABC’s “RJ Decker.” The series, produced by 20th Television, blends comedy with true crime mystery and earned the win in its fourth season. In docuseries, “Girl on the Run” beat “Death Cap: The Mushroom Murders,” “Death of a Showjumper,” “Amy Bradley is Missing,” and “Betrayal: Under His Eye.”

TV episodic and podcast awards

The outstanding episodic series award went to Oxygen True Crime’s “The Death Investigator with Barbara Butcher,” produced by Wolf Entertainment, Alfred Street Industries, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. The show beat out Investigation Discovery entrants including “On the Case with Paula Zahn” and “Feds.”

In podcasts, “Betrayal” from Glass Podcasts and iHeart Podcasts won outstanding podcast docuseries. CBS News‘s “48 Hours: Post Mortem” took outstanding podcast episodic series, edging out “True Crime Recaps” from Jellysmack and “Mind Over Murder” from Another Dog Productions.

Film, book, and creator awards

The CrimeCon Clue Awards 2026 film prize went to Netflix’s “Unknown Number: The High School Catfish,” from Campfire Studios and Terminal B TV, over “My Father, the BTK Killer” (also Netflix, also Campfire Studios) and three other nominees, including Hulu’s “Ruby Red Handed: Stealing America’s Most Famous Pair of Shoes” and the theatrical release “Night in West Texas” from Naked Edge Films.

“Injustice Town” by Rick Tulsky (Pegasus Books) won True Crime Book of the Year. The People’s Choice Creator of the Year went to Crime Weekly, hosted by Stephanie Harlowe and Derrick Levasseur.

Jeffrey Epstein survivors Jena-Lisa Jones, Haley Robson, and Courtney Wild received the Crimefighter of the Year honour for their advocacy through The Survivors, Inc., a nonprofit supporting sexual assault survivors. The 2025 honorees, the families of Abigail Williams and Liberty German, presented the award.
