Hot Wheels Infinite Rush moves release date to Sept 10

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush now arrives earlier than planned. Milestone and Mattel released a new trailer on 17th July 2026. It confirmed the open-world racer lands on Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms on 10th September 2026. That is two weeks ahead of the 24th September date the studios announced at Summer Game Fest in June.

The game follows Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, the diecast racing series Milestone has built since 2023. Those earlier entries confined players to enclosed toy-box tracks, assembled piece by piece. This new entry drops that structure. Instead, it links everything into one connected map players can drive across freely, with races and activities layered on top rather than boxed into separate levels.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush adds four open islands

The map spans four areas. Wheelsville is a dense toy-scale city of skyscrapers and busy streets. Tentacle Bay is a coastal stretch with a name that hints at something lurking offshore. Gear Ville is a dusty industrial zone built from heavy machinery and scorching heat. Drifty Temples sits among blooming cherry trees and ancient pagodas. Milestone describes each island as home to its own rival crew, so races against other drivers factor into how players move through the map.

Each island mixes point-to-point races with free roam driving and smaller challenges scattered across its terrain. Players can move between structured events and open exploration without a loading screen in between. The studio has pitched the map as a world built at toy scale, with no fixed path through it and no wrong turn to worry about.

More than 150 cars across four classes

Milestone has confirmed over 150 vehicles split across four classes. Each one carries its own special ability tied to how it handles the open map. Ferrari‘s lineup is included alongside the usual roster of Hot Wheels originals. That gives players a mix of licensed and toy-inspired cars to unlock while exploring the four islands. Milestone has not detailed how vehicles are unlocked, though the open structure suggests progress will track exploring each area rather than following a single linear campaign. The publisher has not said whether more cars will follow after launch, something it supported throughout the run of Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 with regular content updates.

Cross-play, split-screen and a bigger track builder

The racer supports full cross-play across platforms, plus local split-screen for up to four players. Milestone has also expanded the customization tools from Hot Wheels Unleashed 2. New additions include sticker and livery editors, extra wheel options and an upgraded track builder. That builder now lets players drop in virtual opponents to race against on their own custom layouts.

The track builder was one of the more popular features in the previous game. The wider toolset here suggests Milestone wants custom tracks to carry over into the open map, rather than exist only as separate creations.

  • 150+ vehicles across four classes, including Ferrari models
  • Four connected islands: Wheelsville, Tentacle Bay, Gear Ville and Drifty Temples
  • Full cross-play and four-player split-screen
  • Sticker and livery editors, wheel customization, and an enhanced track builder with virtual opponents

Infinite Rush launches on Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms on 10th September 2026, having moved up from its original late-September date.
