The Division Resurgence shadowdrops on PC for free

The Division Resurgence has appeared on PC through Ubisoft Connect with no prior announcement. Ubisoft describes the release as early access for “technical testing ahead of its official launch in August,” making The Division Resurgence PC available to download at no cost starting today.

The arrival was unexpected. Resurgence was announced in 2022 as a mobile-first entry in The Division series. It launched on iOS and Android on March 31, 2026, with nothing in Ubisoft’s public statements suggesting a PC version was in development.

Resurgence is a third-person looter shooter set in the same post-pandemic New York as the original games. Players complete missions, collect gear, and work through various cooperative and competitive modes. The mobile release carries much of The Division’s core loop in a scaled-down form.

A mobile game with a surprise PC release

Ubisoft’s own promotional language for Resurgence centered on mobile accessibility. The game’s manifesto states its goal as bringing “the Division universe to mobile, to enable more people worldwide to enjoy this open world experience whenever and wherever they want.” A PC early access launch sits at odds with that framing.

Resurgence’s mobile reception offers one likely explanation. The Sixth Axis praised the game’s “well-rounded set of modes” and said the tactical looter shooter grind was “still pretty fun,” but criticized its menus, “clunky” gamepad controls, and bugs. The broader critical response has been similar: not outright negative, but not the kind of reception that suggests strong player adoption.

The Division 2 already has an established audience on PC. Opening Resurgence to that platform, even in early access, expands the player base. Ubisoft has not said whether the PC release was always planned or came in response to mobile performance.

The Division Resurgence PC system requirements

The Division Resurgence PC requirements are modest, given the game’s origins on mobile hardware. The minimum configuration for 1080p at 30fps calls for an Intel i5-4800 or AMD Ryzen 5 3400G with integrated graphics, 8GB of dual-channel RAM, and 30GB of storage.

For 1080p at 60fps on high settings, the game needs an Intel i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100 alongside a dedicated GPU: an Nvidia GTX 1650, AMD RX 5500, or Intel Arc A380. Reaching 2K at 60fps requires an Intel i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 with an Nvidia GTX 1660, AMD RX 5500 XT, or Intel Arc A580. The top-end target, 4K at 60fps on very high settings, calls for an Intel i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a GTX 1660 Ti, RX 5600 XT, or Intel Arc A750. Storage stays at 30GB across all configurations.

How to get The Division Resurgence on PC

The Division Resurgence PC version is available through Ubisoft Connect and costs nothing to download or play. No other storefront currently lists it. The early access period covers technical testing ahead of a full PC launch in August 2026. Ubisoft has not stated what changes between the current build and the August release, or whether early access progress will carry over.
