Ben Jordan, the facial capture actor for Peter Parker in Insomniac Games‘ Spider-Man series, appears to have accidentally confirmed that Spider-Man 3 is in development. Jordan posted a motion capture studio photo to Instagram, showing himself in a classic web-shooting pose, then deleted it within hours.
The image spread before Jordan could remove it. Online communities archived the photo, which shows him in a motion capture suit striking Spider-Man’s signature hand gesture for web-slinging. At no point have Sony or Marvel publicly announced a third game in the Insomniac series, making this an unintended disclosure rather than a coordinated tease.
What the Spider-Man 3 Insomniac leak reveals
Motion capture work of this kind, where an actor is photographed in a studio environment striking character-specific poses, typically happens after a project moves past pre-production. It requires a physical studio setup, a motion capture crew, and an actor brought on under contract. That Jordan was in that environment suggests Spider-Man 3 has moved past the concept phase and into active production of some kind.
Jordan’s now-deleted caption reportedly confirmed his continued role as Peter Parker’s facial model, which he has held across both previous Insomniac Spider-Man games. His involvement in the sequel was widely assumed. However, being photographed on set for an unannounced project is a different matter, and the image was specific enough to leave little room for alternative interpretation.
When could Spider-Man 3 release?
Insomniac’s first two Spider-Man games were released five years apart. Marvel’s Spider-Man launched on PS4 in 2018, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 arrived on PS5 in October 2023. A comparable development window from around 2024 puts Spider-Man 3 in the 2028 to 2029 range.
That timing has implications for hardware. Sony has not confirmed a release window for the PS6, but analyst estimates have frequently cited 2027 to 2028. Spider-Man 3 could plausibly arrive alongside or shortly after the next PlayStation console, following a pattern the series has already established twice by acting as a platform flagship at launch or near-launch.
Wolverine ships first
Before any of this matters, Insomniac still has Marvel’s Wolverine to deliver. That game is scheduled for September 2026, and the studio has kept its public communications focused on that release. The Spider-Man 3 confirmation arriving while Wolverine is still months away was almost certainly not part of anyone’s marketing plan.
No official statement has followed the deleted photo. Sony, Marvel, and Insomniac have not commented, and Jordan’s Instagram no longer shows the image. An announcement timeline for Spider-Man 3 remains unknown.
