Elden Ring Switch 2 release still confirmed for 2026

The Elden Ring Switch 2 port and exclusive title The Duskbloods both remain on track for 2026, parent company Kadokawa confirmed in its fiscal year 2025/26 earnings report.

In results for the year ended March 2026, the publisher stated that FromSoftware is expected to “contribute with ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition, as well as The Duskbloods (both slated for a 2026 release for Nintendo Switch 2), a completely new title.” Kadokawa also cited an intention to “further expand the fan base globally” through both releases.

The statement mirrors Kadokawa’s Q3 2025/26 guidance, which named the same 2026 window for both titles. As of this report, neither the Elden Ring Switch 2 port nor The Duskbloods has a confirmed release date. No footage from either game has appeared publicly since the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase in April 2025, and both have now been cited as 2026 commitments in back-to-back earnings reports.

Elden Ring Switch 2 port: what’s taking so long

Formally titled Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, the Switch 2 version would be the game’s first appearance on Nintendo hardware. When Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 in early 2025, Elden Ring appeared prominently in the initial showcase alongside other third-party titles, with an implied near-launch timeframe. That timeframe passed without a release or further announcement.

Hands-on previews from media outlets gave an uneven picture. Early sessions flagged significant performance problems, while later builds showed considerable improvement. FromSoftware’s track record on platform optimization has been inconsistent: the PC version of Elden Ring launched with widespread technical complaints in 2022, and some issues on PlayStation 5 persist. Whether the studio brought in outside porting support for the Switch 2 version has not been confirmed.

The Duskbloods: FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive

The Duskbloods is an original action RPG built specifically for Nintendo Switch 2, not a port. It is one of the few high-profile exclusives from a major third-party studio on the platform, and FromSoftware’s first console-exclusive title since Bloodborne in 2015. For Nintendo, an exclusive FromSoftware game gives Switch 2 a title that cannot be played anywhere else.

Beyond the reveal trailer shown in April 2025, mechanics, setting, and story details remain undisclosed. In recent months, eShop listings and promotional materials for the game have appeared online. eShop entries tend to surface weeks or months before a title launches, and their appearance suggests active release preparation. Kadokawa’s consecutive earnings statements naming 2026 as the target reinforce that picture.

With the fiscal year closed and both titles still without specific dates, the window for a 2026 release is narrowing. Nintendo typically concentrates its major software announcements around Direct events. Only a few months of the year remain, and FromSoftware has yet to show a release date or new footage for either game. If the 2026 target holds, an announcement should come soon.
