Rockstar Games will premiere an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 on Netflix later this month. It is the first time the studio has used a streaming service to unveil new footage. The GTA 6 Netflix premiere, titled Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, airs August 27 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST.
The presentation also streams on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 website six hours later. That slot lands at 6pm PT / 9pm ET / 2am BST on August 28 in the UK. Rockstar has not said how long the extended look will run or what it covers, and neither the studio nor Netflix has given further detail beyond the premiere times.
The GTA 6 Netflix deal is unusual for Rockstar, which has historically kept major reveals on its own channels. Grand Theft Auto 5, the series’ previous entry, has generated more than $8 billion in revenue since its 2013 release, according to Take-Two Interactive’s public filings. That track record explains why streaming services want exclusive access to the follow-up.
What the GTA 6 Netflix reveal will cover
Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series, framed the partnership as a sign of the franchise’s reach. “Grand Theft Auto reveals have become cultural moments in their own right,” Riegg said in a statement. “The anticipation and fandom around Grand Theft Auto VI is unprecedented, and we’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first.”
Riegg added that the deal reflects what Netflix hopes to become: “a place where the most ambitious storytelling, from any medium, can find the biggest possible audience.” Netflix’s own listing for the special describes it as a chance to see “the next evolution” in the Grand Theft Auto series.
What’s confirmed about Grand Theft Auto 6
Rockstar has released two trailers for Grand Theft Auto 6 since announcing the game, one in December 2023 and a second in May 2025. It has not shown gameplay footage yet. Pre-orders opened in June, and Rockstar confirmed that physical copies will launch in November without a disc, shipping instead as a code inside the box.
The standard edition retails for $80, and the Ultimate Edition, which adds in-game rewards, costs $100. Players who buy the standard edition can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at any time. The game follows Jason and Lucia in the fictional state of Leonida, centered on the city of Vice City. After “an easy score goes wrong,” the two end up in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across the state, relying on each other to survive.
