GTA Online’s last 420 event is running before GTA 6

GTA Online‘s annual 420 event is back for the last time. Rockstar Games confirmed the GTA Online 420 event is live through April 29, making this the final edition of one of the game’s most distinct seasonal traditions before GTA VI launches later in 2026.

With GTA VI now less than seven months out, the current game’s calendar is winding down. Several longstanding seasonal events will make their final appearances this year. The 420 event is the first notable one to cross that line.

What the GTA Online 420 event includes

Rockstar has made this year’s edition one of its more elaborate, introducing a new limited-time mode called Stoner Survival alongside boosted payouts across other modes.

The Hunting Pack (Get Lamar) adversary mode runs at 4x GTA$ and RP for the duration of the event. Players can also earn a Black LD Organics Tee by playing Stoner Survival, which is available through April 29.

Stoner Survival activates at 4:20pm each day in Los Santos and offers 4x GTA$ and RP through April 22. Rockstar describes the mode as a wave-based fight against “aliens, life-sized action figures, wrench-wielding clowns, and Cluckin’ Bell-uniformed chickens in the colorful chaos of Stoner Survival.”

The Weekly Challenge this week ties into the new mode. Completing five waves of Stoner Survival before April 22 earns the Sasquatch Outfit plus GTA$420,000.

GTA Online’s final year before GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto Online launched alongside GTA V in 2013 and has run continuously since, generating billions in revenue through in-game purchases. That run is the financial backdrop for GTA VI’s scale: Rockstar has described it as the largest game the studio has ever made.

The current version of GTA Online will not shut down when GTA VI launches. Rockstar has said the single-player game arrives first, with online content following separately. That gap means players may spend time in the current GTA Online while waiting for the new game’s multiplayer to go live.

Even so, the seasonal calendar as it currently exists is closing out. Events tied to the current map, the current cast of characters, and the current in-game economy will not carry over. The GTA Online 420 event, with its Los Santos setting and annual lineup of absurdist content, belongs to this version of the game.

Rockstar has not announced what GTA VI’s seasonal structure will look like, though the studio has maintained consistent live-service calendars since GTA Online launched. Players should expect similar events to return once the new game’s online mode is running, on a new map with a new cast.

The GTA Online 420 event runs through April 29. Players still chasing the Sasquatch Outfit have until April 22 to complete five Stoner Survival waves.
