Kingdom Come developer confirms Warhorse Studios cyberattack

Warhorse Studios, the Prague-based developer of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, has confirmed it was the target of a cyberattack. The Warhorse Studios cyberattack involved unauthorized access to both company systems and company data, according to a statement the studio published on its website.

The studio says it has brought in outside cybersecurity experts and is coordinating with the relevant authorities. So far, Warhorse has not said what kind of data was accessed, how many people are affected, or when the breach took place.

What Warhorse has said so far

The statement is short and sticks to the basics. “Warhorse Studios confirms that it has been the target of a cyberattack,” it opens. “We are working with cybersecurity experts to secure our systems, investigate the incident, and assess its full impact.”

It then confirms the scope in broad terms: “The attack involved unauthorized access to company systems as well as access to company data. We are coordinating with the relevant authorities as the investigation continues.”

CEO Martin Frývaldský added his own comments. “This is a serious incident for Warhorse Studios and everyone affected,” he said. His immediate priority is securing the studio’s systems and establishing the full extent of the breach. He also wants to protect employees, partners and the wider community. He also said the studio is dedicating the resources needed and will share more information “as soon as we responsibly can.”

No word yet on leaks from the Warhorse Studios cyberattack

Warhorse has not confirmed whether any stolen information has appeared online. That includes employee records as well as material from projects in development. However, the studio’s admission that company data was accessed leaves that possibility open.

Breaches at game studios have led to public leaks before. In 2022, a hack at Rockstar Games resulted in the first wave of Grand Theft Auto 6 footage spreading online. A year later, the cyberattack on Insomniac Games exposed employees’ personal data and led to early gameplay from Marvel’s Wolverine being posted publicly.

Two major projects in development

The Warhorse Studios cyberattack comes at a busy time, with two large games in production. Earlier this year, the studio was confirmed to be working on a new Kingdom Come game alongside an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG.

Embracer Group, which owns Warhorse, has given the next Kingdom Come entry a target window. Embracer CEO Phil Rogers said it could launch as early as April 2027, with the company aiming for a release between then and March 2028.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched in February 2025 and became the studio’s biggest release to date. As a result, any disruption to Warhorse’s internal systems now reaches a much larger team and audience than it would have a few years ago.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the Warhorse Studios cyberattack is ongoing. The studio has not given a timeline for its next update, and neither Warhorse nor Embracer has said whether development schedules are affected.
