Battlefield 6 Season 3: new maps and weapons on May 12

EA has released the gameplay trailer for Battlefield 6 Season 3 ahead of its launch on 12th May. The update brings two rebuilt classic maps, four new weapons, and the return of Obliteration. Ranked play in the REDSEC battle royale and several features the community has been requesting since launch round out the release.

The headline additions in Battlefield 6 Season 3 are a pair of map remakes from earlier entries in the series. Golmud Railway from Battlefield 3 returns as Railway to Golmud. Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 4 gets a rebuilt version called Cairo Bazaar, arriving mid-season. Battlefield Studios rebuilt both in the modern engine and adapted them to fit the game’s Pax Armata conflict narrative. The trailer shows considerable destruction across both maps.

New weapons and modes in Battlefield 6 Season 3

Four weapons join the roster for Season 3. The L115 is a bolt-action sniper rifle for long-range engagements. The M16A4 returns as an assault rifle familiar from earlier entries in the series. The RPK-74M is a light machine gun for sustained fire, and the PP-19 covers the submachine gun slot for close-range work. A new set of character models is also part of the Season 3 release.

Obliteration returns as a game mode, last seen in Battlefield 4. One team carries a bomb to an objective and holds the position until the device detonates. The mode has been a frequent community request. Players following REDSEC, the game’s battle royale component, can now compete in a ranked version of that mode.

System updates and quality-of-life changes

Battlefield 6 Season 3 brings a range of system updates alongside its content additions. Custom lobbies and spectator mode arrive for organised matches. A server browser with persistent servers lets players return to the same community lobbies across sessions. The Platoons system adds a clan-style grouping option within the game, and proximity chat is being activated at the same time.

Battlefield Studios is also updating two existing maps. New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields are both receiving changes in Season 3, though the trailer did not detail what is being altered.

Season 4 confirmed for July

Battlefield Studios published its full 2026 content roadmap last month. Season 4 arrives in July with a water warfare theme. Two maps are confirmed: a remake of Wake Island, one of the series’ most recognised locations, and a new original map called Tsuru Reef. Both will have aircraft carriers with working flight decks. A new dynamic wave system shifts water conditions across both maps during matches.

The roadmap extends through Season 5. Battlefield 6 drew a large player base at its 2025 launch, and Season 3 is the game’s third major content update since then.
