Zelda: A Link Between Worlds lands on Nintendo Music

Nintendo Music added The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds to its catalog this week, bringing all 105 tracks and a combined runtime of two hours and 31 minutes to the app’s library.

A Link Between Worlds launched on Nintendo 3DS in late 2013 as a direct sequel to A Link to the Past, making it the first mainline Zelda game to return to that title’s version of Hyrule in over two decades. The game kept the top-down perspective and map layout of the 1991 Super Nintendo original while adding a mechanic that lets Link merge into walls and move through them as a 2D painting. That system reshaped puzzle design across both of the game’s kingdoms, with many challenges built around Link’s ability to slip into surfaces and traverse them at different angles. The title is widely regarded as one of the strongest releases on the 3DS platform.

Ryō Nagamatsu composed the score, having worked on the Mario Kart and Splatoon series during his time at Nintendo. He also contributed to the 2019 Switch remake of Link’s Awakening. For A Link Between Worlds, Nagamatsu drew from familiar Zelda themes while writing new material for the sequel’s original areas and characters, including Lorule and its ruler, Princess Hilda.

What the Zelda: A Link Between Worlds soundtrack includes

The 105-track listing covers the game from beginning to end. Early pieces include “The Adventure Begins” and the overworld’s “Hyrule Theme,” with familiar locations such as Kakariko Village and The Lost Woods appearing in new arrangements. Lorule, the darker mirror-image kingdom and the game’s secondary setting, has a dedicated theme along with dungeon compositions for each of its stages.

Several tracks feature both Lorulean and Hyrulean versions of the same locations, placing the two arrangements side by side. The album also includes variations of classic Zelda pieces performed by the Milk Bar Musicians, an in-game traveling ensemble, and fanfares for hero mode completion and the standard game ending.

Zelda’s catalog on Nintendo Music

The update extends a Zelda lineup that already spans a wide portion of the franchise. Currently available soundtracks include those from Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, A Link to the Past, and the original NES Zelda titles. A Link to the Past, the 1991 SNES game that A Link Between Worlds continues directly, was already available ahead of this update. Nintendo has added new soundtracks to the app regularly since its November 2024 launch.

Accessing the full library, including this new addition, requires an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The app runs on Nintendo Switch consoles and mobile devices.
